One of the most distinguished Polish jazz pianists, master of improvisation – Adam Makowicz – performed on 23rd November 2018 in the Concert Hall in  Jordanki, accompanied by the Toruń Symphony Orchestra. In the first part of the concert the piece  The Battle of Siddim by Johnny Hachem was presented, who also participated in this event. The second part of the concert included the pieces composed by Adam Makowicz, the works of Frederick Chopin and the Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin. For the needs of the concert organized by the Toruń Symphony Orchestra, the Concert Hall was prepared in the configuration without two trapdoors, with the application of the fixed and mobile proscenium (the fixed proscenium was enlarged by the trapdoor of the orchestra pit and of the auditorium used to change shaping of the floor of the audience and for transportation of  platforms). This kind of hall arrangement is often used by the orchestra for the needs of symphonic concerts.

Almost every December, the Concert Hall in Jordanki – is an important location – next to other, modern and exceptional facilities in terms of architecture – on the all-Poland tour of the legendary ballet group Moscow City Ballet, founded by Victor Smirnov-Golovanov. In particular, Swan Lake enjoys great and continual interest of the audience. The great success of this show – according to the organizers – can be attributed to its choreography and music. Simple dramatic plot and touching interpretation of love between Siegfried and Odette as a symbol of power of feeling are illustrated by extremely emotional choreography. Over the last year the show given by Moscow City Ballet was visited by more than two hundred and fifty thousand persons.

One of the opera shows presented on the stage of the Concert Hall of the Cultural and Congress Centre Jordanki was the famous opera by Giuseppe Verdi, Nabucco. The project engaged international soloists, the Polish Opera Choir and Roncole Verdi Orchestra. The stage decorations prepared for the needs of the show were inspired by the ancient Ishtar Gate, whose characteristic feature was the blaze of colours applied in this decoration. Stylised, colourful costumes completed the visual decoration of the show. The entire event was produced by the Pro Musica Artistic Agency.

The stage of the Concert Hall is equipped with a fixed and a mobile proscenium, allowing to enlarge the fixed proscenium and to form an orchestra pit (orchestra pit: area: fixed part 60,5 m², mobile part 52,3 m², in total 110 m²).

According to the event organizer:

For the last three years the Cultural and Congress Centre Jordanki has functioned as the Festival Centre for  the Tofifest International Film Festival.

It is an extraordinarily beautiful space, that can provide the setting for both concerts and film projections. Its important advantage, except for the attractive architecture, is its central location, which is of great importance for our event, as well as an exceptional team of employees of this institution.

The TV gala of Sting for the Polish Television TVP, held on the 8th December 2016 was one of the most important events organised in the Cultural and Congress Centre Jordanki. The artist promoted his album 57th & 9th in Toruń. The concert included performance by Anna Maria Jopek, who honoured this event with her recital. Except for the songs from the album 57th & 8th, such hits could be heard on the stage as Englishman in New York, Message in a Bottle and Fragile, performed by Sting in a duet with Anna Maria Jopek. Sting’s performance was not of commercial character. In the scope of promotion of his new album, the artist  searched for the places of chamber hall character, in Europe, and also in Poland, where he could record a material for television. The Universal company, in charge of organization of the promotional tour of Sting, had a number of locations in Poland suitable for performance of this artist to select from. As it turned out, it was the Concert Hall in Jordanki that fulfilled the producer’s expectations in the best way. The concert was organized by the agency SOS Music, and co-organized by the Marshall’s Office of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province and the Office of the City of Toruń; its exclusive sponsor was Energa S.A. and other partners included: Universal Music Polska and Telewizja Polska. The television gala recorded in Jordanki was broadcast by the first channel of the Polish television  TVP 1 on the New Year’s Day (1 January 2017).
