The heart and soul of the band are the composing guitarist Q-rek (Mateusz Kurek) and baritone saxophonist Jacek Rodziewicz. They also started cooperation with the pianist and keyboardist – Bartek Staszkiewicz, the genius of the tenor saxophone – Maciej Sikała and the Torres family: drummers – José and Tomasz and bassist – Filip.
Q Ya Vy is the group with a vision. Its strength is not only the artistry of musicians but also multigenerationality (the oldest member of the band was born in 1958, the youngest – in 1990). Performing together, they offer listeners a portion of music which is maintained in the tradition of stimulating jazz-rock with a strong and distinct Latin elements.
In a word: They play jazz, but one that is listened to without snobbery and for pure pleasure. They have an impressive control over the form of the songs and the discipline of the soloists.
